Review: Cowboys & Kisses

Description Provided by Goodreads: Allie had big plans for the future. Falling for a cowboy wasn't part of it.
1. Get out of Black Falls Texas - aka Redneck Hell
(Graduation was eight months away. After that, she was out of there.)
2. Avoid Wyatt Holcomb at all costs.
(Except he was everywhere and kind of hard to ignore since he was hot-and a really nice guy.)
3. Avoid her parents.
(Shouldn't be too hard to do since her father hated her and her mother pretended nothing was wrong.)
4. Stop thinking about Wyatt.
(Which would be a lot easier if he wasn't so sweet... and he'd keep his shirt on.)
5. Decide what she really wants.
(Instead of holding onto the past and the guilt.)

Story Line: While at first I thought that this would be the typical girl falls for sweet boy story, I quickly found out that this wasn't what the book was about at all. Allie has suffered through a horrendous accident and to top it all off her family life is crumbling and her father decides to move them all to her grandmother's old home in Black Falls Texas. When Allie gets there she meets Wyatt, who seems confidant and sweet but who we later learn has problems of his own. I loved that the story line was more complex and emotional than I first anticipated!!!

Writing: While I was familiar with Sasha Summers' writing because I had previously read one of her books, Hollywood Homecoming, I was completely and wonderfully surprised by the writing. The writing so marvelously conveys the emotions of the characters that it surrounds the reader and takes them on an emotional roller coaster right along with the characters! While reading you can feel Allie's pain, frustration, and love all while also feeling Wyatt's hope, distraught, and love as well!!

Relationships:
Allie&Wyatt: Allie and Wyatt's attraction is very immediate. From the first time they meet they have the cute moment where they looked into each other's eyes for a long time and instantly connected (and yes I totally fangirled while reading this)!! From there their relationship has many high and lows due to Allie's inability to accept her feelings for Wyatt, Levi (who was a very flirty road bump lol!!!), and Wyatt's past. However, through it all their relationship and love for each other only grows stronger, which was really beautiful to read about!!

Dax&Molly: Dax is Allie's twin brother and her only ally at the beginning of the book. I loved reading about Dax and Molly's relationship because it was really cute and it added an extra tinge of romance to the overall feel of the book. I can't wait to read about how their relationship turns out!

Characters:
Allie: Allie's character starts off as a angry, selfish, bitter, resentful, and closed off person due to her accident (don't want to spoil anything!). After her first meeting with Wyatt, she slowly starts to change. Throughout the book she deals with her feelings for Wyatt, her family (which she learns much about), her life (where she wants it to go), and the accident. I loved reading about her transformation in the book, especially when she was around Wyatt!

Wyatt: Wyatt is first introduced as the caring, compassionate, smexy (with no shirt on lol!!!), funny, and gentlemanly guy who decides to work on Allie's grandmother's house. I loved reading about Wyatt's feelings toward Allie but it was also a little sad because he kept putting himself out there for her and she kept rejecting him. His character is so sweet and charming that you can't help but fall in love with him and want him to get the girl he deeply cares about. As the book progresses, we see that Wyatt's life isn't perfect; yet, the thing I loved most about Whim is his positive attitude towards life. His character faces many difficulties in his life yet he keeps perservering!!

Overall: I was wonderfully and pleasantly surprised by this book. I can honestly say that I didn't expect to love it as much as I did and I'm really glad I got to read it. The characters are great, the writing was fantastic, and the story line was complex and packed with many emotions that capture the audience from the beginning!!!

Rating: I would give this book a 10 out of 10!!!

About the Author:
Sasha is part gypsy. Her passions have always been storytelling, history, romance, and travel. She writes lyrical romantic fantasy, steamy contemporary romance, sci-fi romance, and young adult romance. Her first play was written for her Girl Scout troupe. She's been writing ever since. She loves getting lost in the worlds and characters she creates; even if she frequently forgets to run the dishwasher or wash socks when she's doing so. Luckily, her family is super understanding and supportive.

    1. Exactly! I'm not really sure when the second book is coming out. I don't think Inkspell Publishing has set a publication date because this book just came out February 10. So, basically not soon enough lol!!
