The Watcher (Giveaway Included!!!)

Description Provided by Goodreads: Millennia ago, he fell from heaven for her. Can he face her without falling again? Fascinated with ancient civilizations, seventeen-year-old Mia Crawford dreams of becoming an archaeologist. She also dreams of wings—soft and silent like snow—and somebody trying to steal them. When a horrible creature appears out of thin air and attacks her, she knows Michael Fontaine is involved, though he claims to know nothing about it. Secretive and aloof, Michael evokes feelings in Mia that she doesn’t understand. Images of another time and place haunt her. She recognizes them—but not from any textbook. In search of the truth, Mia discovers a past life of forbidden love, jealousy and revenge that tore an angel from Heaven and sent her to an early grave. Now that her soul has returned, does she have a chance at loving that angel again? Or will an age-old nemesis destroy them both? Ancient history is only the beginning.

Excerpt:

Michael leaned against a nearby rock, still watching me. With the orange-cast light from the street lamp playing off his skin, shadowing the muscles of his shoulders and arms, and the flickering of golden light his halo cast around him, he looked positively heroic, like a statue of an ancient god.
“Where to now?” I asked, approaching him.
The wind had swept his hair into a tangle of curls splayed in every direction, forming a dark, shadowy crown of their own. I reached over to smooth it, as if doing so was the most natural thing in the world, and he brushed his hand up my spine. Even through my jacket, a burning heat coursed through me. Touching the back of my head, he found my braid and pulled it out. He twisted it between his fingers, examining it, then looked up at me, his gaze open, unguarded, his pupils as wide and black as the night sky. A flush warmed the back of my neck and I stood there mesmerized by him, unable to look away.
Arcing his other arm around me, he pulled me toward him and whispered, “I shouldn’t,” against the side of my face, as though it were a confession. Then, his lips cool and salty from the sea air, he kissed me with such tenderness it made my chest ache.
But I didn’t need tenderness. I needed him. Since the last time we’d kissed, I’d been so careful around him, trying not to cross the invisible line that would either damn him or scare him away. I couldn’t be careful anymore. Gripping the front of his shirt, I pulled him closer, and he locked his arms around me like I’d always wanted him to, like maybe he’d never let me go. Sitting on the rock, he gathered me into him, sliding me onto his lap. My thighs straddled his hips and he let out the softest of moans, his lips grazing my throat, the side of my neck, the line of my jaw, before returning to mine.
With a sharp inhale, he tensed and stopped kissing me. His eyes flashed a warning look—full of fear, as though he’d gone somewhere fathomless inside himself that he’d sworn he’d never go. Standing, he guided me off his lap. When he spoke, his voice took on a deep timbre.
“We’re not alone.”

THANKSGIVING SPECIAL

In light of it being Thanksgiving I've decided to let all of you know the top things I'm thankful for:

1) I'm EXTREMELY grateful for my parents. They've been through so much in their lives and they've risen up and prospered. They've given up many luxuries for my sister's and my comfort. I don't know what kind of person I would be if they hadn't been such caring and attentive parents. I thank them for all the sacrifices they've made for me, the education and other things they provide for me, and all the  love they've given me!!!

(This picture pretty much explains our relationship. LOL!!)
 2) Through everything I've been through one constant in my life has been my sister. Even though we fight many times (throughout the day hahaha!) I still respect, admire, and love her. She's not only my sister but a best friend and she's never pushed me off to the side because I'm four years younger than her. I'm thankful she's in my life and for all the support, strength, and love I've gotten from her!!!

3) (Sorry for excluding all other friends besides the ones seen here but I couldn't fit everyone in) I don't think words can ever express how grateful I am to have meet these amazing people I now call friends. Entering high school I was a shy person who had been bullied and didn't talk to people and school had become a place just for learning and not somewhere I particularly liked to be. However, thanks to these amazing people and many more I slowly gained back my confidence, strength, and courage. I never thought I would ever have meet these people and turned out to be so happy with my life. I don't think I'll ever stop saying thank you to everyone of my friends for truly showing me what friendship meant.

4) I am sooooo thankful for books!! They have gotten me through some hard times by letting me escape into other worlds and into the lives of other characters. I'm also thankful for books because I've formed more than one friendship thanks to them. Lastly, I'm thankful for books because they've led me to blogging and meeting new and amazing bloggers, readers, fangirls, and authors!!!

5) Authors are the people who create the books we all love to read about and the characters that we go crazy for. Even though it's a hard job they still manage to impress us and for that I am grateful. A HUGE THANK YOU TO ALL THE AUTHORS FOR ALL THE WORK YOU PUT INTO YOUR BOOKS AND YOUR CHARACTERS!!!!

6) Let's just take a moment to admire these incredibly good looking people. Done? Well, I'm grateful for cover models because I'm not ashamed to say that I have read more than one book because of the hot guy on the cover. Thanks to these cover models I have fallen in love with many books and have been able to escape into different words and met people who share the same interests as me!!

7) I'm thankful for the world I live in, while it certainly isn't perfect and could definitely use some improvements I love the beauty of it, the people who make it beautiful, and the feelings associated with it. This world that we live in has seen and will see tragedies but one thing that will always remain is hope. Hope for something better, for things to change and be "perfect". I'm thankful for everything it has provided for me!!

8) Lastly but certainly not least I'm thankful to all of you for making blogging so much fun!!! Thank you for all the comments, views, and encouragement you have all given me. I didn't know what to expect when I first started blogging but after a couple of months I'm completely in love with it and I'm so glad I started. I've met so many amazing people and connected with authors whose books I adore. Thank you all for this amazing gift you've given me; I can now look forward to the many more blogging years to come!!!

That was my list so now what's yours? What are you thankful for? Leave a comment and know that I would be thankful for it too!!

Undertow (Giveaway Included!!!)

Description Provided by Goodreads: Luckless Eila is unknowingly the last of her kind: Rare. Gifted. Breakable. Stunning Raef is her kind's historic enemy: Soulless. Lethal. Lost. A legendary death 160 years before would set their lives to collide, forcing a beautiful killer to become a savior, a simple wallflower to become a warrior, and ruthless destiny to become a death sentence. Eila Walker knows luck is not a friend, so she is downright shocked to inherit a million-dollar Cape Cod home. And yeah, her new town isn't perfect: the cheerleaders are heinous clones, the local undertow can kill ya, and her Great Grams was supposedly fried by lightning in the harbor square. Still, Eila is hopeful her luckless days are in the past . . . until history decides to repeat itself. When drool-worthy Raef O’Reilly becomes her friendly, yet weirdly protective shadow, Eila thinks life is pretty darn perfect – until she is hauled beneath the waves by an unnatural undertow. Revealing coal-black eyes and iron-like strength as he rescues her, Raef can no longer hide what he is . . . or what she can do. Eila, last of her kind, can supposedly channel the power of human souls, while Raef is more adept at stealing them. Even worse, the legend about her ancestor isn't such a myth, since Eila’s grandmother was one kick-butt warrior until her lightning-like power backfired. A power that is written all over Eila's DNA. Determined to stay one step ahead of a dangerous clan that is hunting her, Raef, along with three unlikely allies, will do all they can to protect her. But as hidden pieces of their brutal histories unravel, Eila begins to understand just what went down in the harbor square. She soon realizes that following in her grandmother’s fearless footsteps may be the only way to save those she loves . . . including Raef. Story Line: I loved the plot of this book. This book revolved around fallen angels and good guys versus bad guys; however K.R. Conway has taken these concepts and showered them with refreshing new twists and made them into completely new ideas. The twists that this book takes were unbelievable and while I don't want to give anything away I will say that not everyone is who they say they are or think they are.

Writing: The writing was amazing. K.R. Conway creates a world in which her readers can dive in and get lost in the lives of the characters. I loved the descriptiveness of the characters and the scenes because they just made every part of the book more realistic and entertaining.

Relationships:
Eila&Raef: I love Eila and Raef as a couple. Raef and Eila are both protective of each other and even though they're supposed enemies they can't help but be attracted to each other. I loved their interactions and I loved reading about their blooming relationship.

Ana&Kian: I absolutely loved Ana and Kian's relationship even though they weren't the main characters. To see both of these strong characters reveal a softer side of themselves and show their vulnerability with each other was amazing to read about. I hope to read more about about their progressing relationship in the next book.

Characters:
Eila: I LOVED Eila's character especially when she's dealing with the preppy cheerleaders. She definitely has a backbone and isn't afraid to show it. I loved that her character experienced doubt in her abilities throughout the book; however, what I loved the most was her ability to overcome the doubt.

Raef: I loved the almost tortured soul in Raef. He's a sweet, gentlemanly, gorgeous, protective, helpful, thoughtful, caring, and perfect character. He has some hard choices to make, especially at the end of the book that I never saw coming.

Overall: I enjoyed reading this book and actually finished it in a day. It was definitely an entertaining book and a great read which I recommend reading, especially for the Thanksgiving Holiday!!

Rating: I would give this book a 9!!!

Excerpt:

The branch crashed in front of me, scraping my legs. I ran for the parking

lot as fast as I could. The frost closed in, surrounding me. I’d never been

claustrophobic, but as the frost cut off my escape path with a solid white

wall, I panicked.

Fog rolled in, like cold death, cutting off my view of the park. It curled

around me, brushing against my face, arms, and legs. I turned back to the

tree and ran faster, my dress tangling between my legs as the fog and icy

wind blew against my skin.

The parking lot is the other way! my mind screamed. The other way

was cut off by a mountain of ice. I felt as if I was being herded. By ice?

I slipped on the icy ground, falling face first into the frost. Ice crept up

my toes and along my legs. I thrashed and screamed. I felt the fog

becoming a solid mass above me, pinning me to the ground. The ice piled

around me. Am I going to be buried alive?

I dug my nails into the frigid snow in front of me and tried to claw my

way out of the frosted death trap. I was so panicked I didn’t feel it when my

nails broke against the impenetrable wall of ice, leaving red crescents of

blood welling up on sensitive skin. An hysterical sob worked its way out of

my throat as I gouged red lines into the ice. The ice was above my knees,

snaking its way up my thighs. I shivered.

Shivering’s good, I reminded myself. It means your body hasn’t given

up…yet. The cold was painful, like a thousand little knives pricking my skin.

A violent tremor went up my spine, sending waves of pain through me.

“Help me!” I screamed, knowing it was futile. I was going to die here.

Except I couldn’t die. Could I? Mom said I was immortal, but was that

all-inclusive? Did I have a weakness? Was snow my Kryptonite? If I got

hurt, would I heal or would I be trapped in an injured body in pain forever?

I suddenly didn’t know if immortality was a good thing or a bad thing.

The cold hurt. I was kicking, screaming, and clawing my way out of the

frost, but for every inch I gained a mountain piled around me. I thought I

heard a man’s laughter on the wind, the sound somehow colder than the

ice freezing me into place.

The ground before my outstretched hand trembled. The shaking

increased. The earth lurched beneath me. The surface cracked and the

sound was so loud that for a moment all I could hear was high-pitched

ringing in my ears. The ground split into an impossibly deep crevice. My

voice went hoarse from screaming as I peered into the endless abyss,

trapped and unable to move away from the vertigo-inducing edge.
